Real time run code in the test UI is both a blessing and a curse -- the curse part being that it compels you to keep typing in running code as fast as possible, even when the test objective is to show design considerations and not final code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While better than most technical interviews, and suppressing pasting from outside test tabs is understandable in the age of AI hype, copy and paste should still be permissible within the same tab of the design comment input interface, especially when fillable comment cards move unpredictably around the canvas upon click events. I definitely got a couple of false negative answers due to this core UX problem combined with the artificial time limits, which also triggered without any warning. Byteboard is appreciated for its innovative approach to technical interviewing, focusing on fairness, real-world relevance, and efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing as such, had a good experience overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user-friendly interface and detailed feedback make the assessment process less daunting and more educational for candidates and Companies can save time and resources by identifying the right talent faster with Byteboard's precise evaluations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have used Byteboard for a number of positions. Having used several assessment tools, I haven't found one that simulates on-the-job performance nearly as well as Byteboard. Our team has also used Byteboard assessments for non-coding positions, such as a product manager. Candidates seem to enjoy the process more than other assessment tools. And for us, it's a great way to gague how a candidate will approach challenges in the wild. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there was more customizability with the assessments, though to be fair, whenever we have contacted the Byteboard team they have helped us customize the assessments to our requirements. But, it would be nice if we could do so within the Byteboard platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I got interviewed for a Senior Software Engineer role and solved a task on a web application on Byteboard platform.
The interviewing experience was seamless. Clean UI and flow. Hope more and more tech platforms use Byteboard for evaluating candidates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Alghough I didn't experience any issues, I feel adding an alert few minutes before allocated time is elapsed will be very useful. That will help to avoid last minute changes that may bring issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Byteboard makes it easier to get initial interview rounds through, since we don't need to have an engineer host the interview (and take time to write feedback). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Byteboard did not have customizable questions, which is important for Figma. And we also value face-to-face time as a way to humanize the interview process and engage candidates more. I've also seen candidates that have gone through on-sites because of a strong passing score in Byteboard but they did poorly on all of their coding interviews. The Byteboard assessment assesses for actual engineering and coding skills, versus traditional coding interviews that assess for how much you've practiced for the test. This gives employers better signal on candidates' technical skills. Byteboard also provides a great candidate experience! We've had many candidates tell us that they loved taking a test that measures actual skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, we've been very happy with Byteboard! No complaints! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
How holistic the assessment is with reviewing soft and technical skills, and how it accurately reflects a candidate's skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Dislike isn't the right word, but it would be helpful to have more contact with the graders in improving our own calibration on assessments YoY. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
