"Powerful Git GUI Tool"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

The layout and UI designs are very slick and easy to use & understand. The menu navigation is very well laid out as well as the graphical tree structure as well. Comments and additional info are easy to read; there is no reason to ever log into the web-based repository if you have this premium tool! When we needed to make more complex changes like rebasing, merging, or running cmd prompts to change hidden config files, the GUI tool was up to the task. This tool is equally as great for both beginner users as well as advanced, which I find very hard to find these days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

There is a free version, but it is eventually required to go with a paid subscription. You cannot work on private repositories under the free version, so to try the product out you only have 7 days to evaluate if working with a private repo. I understand how and why they have set this up, but just something to keep in mind when comparing different GUI products out there for GIT GUI solutions. I did have trouble with having my security key stay associated with my project in the program but not sure where that issue stemmed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is free to download and try. You can download other GUI tools out there to compare and see for yourself how powerful and organized this one is! It is straightforward to learn to start using and also extremely powerful when you need to do more complex changes to your repository. It is very secure and safe by supporting the security methods set up on your git repository. The biggest problem was pushing code changes to our repository. We also needed the ability to run cmd prompts as well for more complex config changes. All changes were quickly done within GitKraken; there is a reason it is one of the best GUI tools out there! We also needed a clean GUI for users who wanted to see and review the code changes. This allowed IT and developers to easily use the tool to make changes but also share the well layed out UI for the business users to help them visualize what changes were made and when. "The Best Looing UI Git Client I've Used"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

I have used most of the most popular UI Git clients and I think Git Kraken is the best looking. As its UI and interface are simple and sleek whenever I need to use a UI for GIT this is my go-to tool. What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

When we used it on repositories that used Gerrit , it wass often quicker to use the command line to do more complex tasks. Now Git Kraken has the terminal view this isn't an issue any more, so not much bad to say about it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best way to start using GIT"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

GitKraken is a visual software for GIT, for those who are starting or are still intermediate or just don't like CLI, GitKraken makes the use of GIT much easier and even the learning about GIT. I always wanted to use GIT but always had trouble understanding how to use it via CLI, SSH key authentication among other things, GITKraken makes all of this easier, it has native integrations with GITHUB and BITBUCKET and also others, which allows you to create automatic SSH keys and everything you operate using buttons, it really is a helping hand. Perhaps for me, what works in favor of some users, is what I would not say that I like, the graphical interface can make you forget some commands because you do not use them, and if you eventually do not have access to the software, you will have to learn them again. "Git Kraken: The Best Tool for Git Management and Version Contrilling in One Go"

What do you like best about GitKraken Desktop?

The feature Git Kraken provides to regularize git repositories is very user-friendly. The GUI for git graph analytics and other GitHub service management such as git PR, merge, pull, push, rebase is simply outstanding. There was a time when I faced a lot of difficulties managing git branches and the versions. After I learned to use Git Kraken, everything felt buttery smooth and easy as water flow. Again while collaborating with peer colleagues, I consistently have to switch, merge and rebase different branches.

Furthermore, using only the Git terminal seems so old-school and annoying. Moreover, Only using the Git terminal can be intimidating and troublesome as we can not track the Git graphs in real-time. In Git Kraken, I can continuously switch between different branches and consistently pull, push and merge updates from other branches, which is close to impossible using the git terminal. Again, the smoothness and the flexibility Git Kraken provides boosts my productivity 1000 times more than using the traditional git terminal. Again, while asking for a pull request, Git Kraken can do it in a button click where the git terminal can take it hours at times. So, as a Software Engineer, I can not but think of using my day without using Git Kraken nowadays because GitHub has become such a massive part of my life, and to manage such a workflow, Git Kraken is a must for me. What do you dislike about GitKraken Desktop?

I think the configuration procedure of Git Kraken. is a bit confusing and intimidating. I faced problems several times while connecting Git Kraken with my GitHub, as well as the BitBucket account. First of all, the device-specific RSA key configuration is very troublesome because I could not connect to my GitHub using Git Kraken's built-in RSA configuration system. Thus I had to configure the Git Kraken with my GitHub manually, which was annoying and time-consuming. Nevertheless, connecting to the remove requires a second step configuration where I had to add the remote repository's ssh url, which doesn't make any sense in the pull, push, and PRs. Nevertheless, the preferences tab is very buggy as well as laggy, which takes a lot of time to load and hampers productivity. In my case, it takes at least 30 seconds to load the settings and preferences tab, which I find very intimidating. Again while managing pull requests at times Git Kraken creates unnecessay issues which is confusing and hampers development productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I will recommend every Git user to use the features provided by Git Kraken at least once to know how likely and comfortable managing Git and version control can be. However, to the higher management team, I recommend using Git Kraken because they can easily track their employees day to day performance as well as contribution to their company. As Git Kraken provides a real-time work graph along with the workflow, which briefly explains each user's contribution, it will be straightforward for them to take management-related decisions and provide feedback related to each user. Nevertheless, for the developers out there, I will say to manage their working branches easily and collaborate with team members, Git Kraken has no other alternative. Git Kraken can boost the productivity of each user by lessening the hassle while managing git branches. Nevertheless, merging and rebasing is a confusing task while collaborating with others, where Git Kraken shows a side-by-side view so that anyone can compare and reconsider the conflicts created. As I work as a Software Engineer, I have no alternative to using GitHub in my daily life while managing my development workflow and software version controlling. Again, Git version control can be problematic using the Git CLI and terminal, in my opinion. As it doesn't provide the Git graph and easily merge and rebase facilities, I am unable to check my as well as my team members' changes regularly. In such cases, Git Kraken fills the need for me. I have to work in team; I have to consistently pull, push and merge with other remote branches while tracking the version and update provided by my team members. However, I also have to check the real-time state of the development workflow where Git Kraken has no other alternative, in my opinion.
