What do you like best about AWS Database Migration Service?
I like the heterogeneous managed replication service, particularly to Aurora and Redshift. It's been great to replicate our operational and even analytical data sets to our redshift and aurora DBs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about AWS Database Migration Service?
Sometimes the documentation is limiting on the details but that's like any service ;) I do wish they supported redshift to aurora Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Does not have good support for BLOBs. The speed of data migration slows down drastically while migration BLOBs will 'Full BOLB' mode Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS Database Migration Service?
This tool has been easy to get setup and going, managing transactional updates and keeping source and ODS in sych seemlessly. This is effort that our teams have traditionally coded manually and now can simply plug into with a tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about AWS Database Migration Service?
The con on some of the setup is the access to things like security logs. DBA's on the source systems weren't use to providing this type of access, but after a few conversations were convinced to ensure proper security was in place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

i have been using AWS Database Migration Service for 2-3 years , it's the most helpful service for migrating database to AWS cloud easily as well as securely to take the advantage of availability , scaleability of an AWS cloud for your application , the most amazing thing about AWS Database Migration service is that it supports both homogeneous and heterogeneous migration to the AWS cloud easily (ex. SQL server to Mysql ) , i must say it's quit innovative service by AWS as it simplifies the most difficult job of migration of data base , it simplifies the work of network administrators to DBA (Database Administrative). it's pricing are little bit higher comparatively, it's highly customized so we need to take care about so many parameters!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

even though i think DMS was only meant to be used in finite sessions we are using it nonstop to replicate data from multiple sources into one. it works great most of the time. very rarely we have problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about AWS Database Migration Service?
sometimes when a DMS task fails i have to restart the whole task from scratch to fix the error. also recoverable errors put the task in 'failed' state which triggers our alarms. but since it's a recoverable error we can't really act on the alarm untill it fails on reties. The support on the questions and answers given during the workshop sessions.
The attiitude of Read the Manual before asking needs to change not good for marketing and customers may get turned off. This was unexpected from aws that is famous for customer service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The guide and easy process for database migration is the best solution when you're on the cloud, keeping up to date with versions and options from range of RDS or EC2 deployments and then replication base on cost and performance is a need and this tool help us to archive that Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are some limitations when you are use to backup/restore process on-prem database and then when you're on RDS the process offers restrictions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
