What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

Codestar provides strong features but mostly what you'd expect from AWS: decent version and project tracking. Obvious pros include easy connection to EC2, Lambda, and Elastic instances. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS CodeStar?

It lacks the adoption of Gitlab. AWS-centric, if you're using cross-platform services, pick another IDE. The time required to provision a new instance takes a while. It isn't suitable for smaller scopes. CodeStar would not be my choice for a team IDE unless I had to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

Why do I like CodeStar? Because it has a unique interface in which you can easily manage the development of applications, it also provides the opportunity to work in a team very safely and at the same time be able to follow the development of the projects in which you work and the best of this great software is that you only pay for what you use while you develop your applications Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Perspective of a Non-Technical User"

What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

I'm not sure if this review will target everyone using AWS Code Star as I am a nontechnical user. I dabble in coding for my product team but it's not my main priority role or what I spend most of my day on. Disclaimer aside, I've enjoyed using AWS Code Star. My team and I have found the templates pretty intuitive and straightforward. My Dev Ops colleagues have been loving it even more than I have! The process from starting a project at log in to choosing a template is fairly straightforward and relatively intuitive. We've also enjoyed the dashboard as a way to track our progress of our applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS CodeStar?

To be totally honest, since I'm not as much of a main user of the platform I have a hard time navigating the code. Whether that's a flaw of AWS Code Star or myself is a good question lol. It has taken us quite a bit of time for our applications to get up and running, which is frustrating when we're looking to make quick decisions and fast projects. What problems is AWS CodeStar solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using AWS Code Star primarily for Dev Ops purposes. As a manager, I dabble in reviewing these though I am not necessarily a main user of A W S Code Star. A major benefit we've realized is being able to deploy the app anywhere we want, though being locked in to using AWS for everything could be a potential downside. What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

Its amazing user interface enables me to easily manage my complete software development activities in one place including the continuous delivery toolchain which helps me in releasing my code faster to the production servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS CodeStar?

This is not platform independent and can be used only in AWS infrastructure. We use GCP and Azure in our office and there is no option to use CodeStar there. I also wanted AWS to provide a good peer review process into CodeCommit with an integration into CodeStar for better collaboration between my team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering AWS CodeStar:

If you are building AWS native applications, look no further and use CodeStar instead of git and Jenkins. This is suited for AWS infrastructure and is available free of cost. "It's basically collection of different AWS services!!"

What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

I have been using it for 2-3 years , it basically glue that kind of binds all the services together in one like codecommit which is managed code repo , you can easily connect it with JIRA, it's pricing are very transparent where each service is priced separately , it also offers free CodeCommit service for first 5 users and for codepipeline it's $1 per month, you can use it from dashboard as well as from CLI !! If you are working on a developt team, use the issue tracking is so useful, and there is also others integrated tools which can help a lot, use them. What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

One of the best thing is the way you can integrated with others tool of amazon, as codecommit, cloud9, ec2, etc. Is very easy to use and intuitive you can set task to the team members and give them access, assign role, there is also a issue tracking, is very complete online ide. Also the way of deploy app/websites can't be easier, with few clicks i can see my project running, and the best of all is you can test all these tools on free tier which is just amazing. If you need manage a big or small project, aws codestar is great online tool to do that, and all the others tools from amazon like pipeline, codedeploy, codecommit, etc. Which are integrated with CodeStar are just amazing to work on your brower, thats mean you can edit code from everywhere without install anything. The price isn't expensive and you can select what kind of features do you need, so it apply for all developer levels, even for students, they can use the free tier to do small projects. With AWS CodeStar i can share projects with co-worker, team members, friends. It help a lot to organized a project, is the perfect tool for SCRUM, and it update the code instantly thats mean i can work live with another people. What do you like best about AWS CodeStar?

Love that i don't need to download and install a ton of software on my laptop. In a few minutes, I can have a full cloud development environment wired up to a release pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS CodeStar?

Doesn't seem to be fully integrates with all of the AWS services. For example, if you create a lambda project with an API gateway, it will update changes you make to the lambda function, but not the gateway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
