We've used Kafka as a messaging system and queue, and by comparison Kinesis is an absolute breeze to use. It ties simply and easily into other data architecture features that AWS provides, and so it is a natural choice for a lot of different data problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Kinesis Data Streams?

The Ruby APIs and documentation are pretty rough. Creates a dependency on Java, which is annoying, but much less of a headache than Kafka's dependence on Zookeeper. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
