Why MS-Excel is got slowed down when there is large data sets?

When I use excel sheets for very large data set, it goes slow down. But work very fine for small to medium data sets.

Usually excel is supposed to take on large data sets, but in some cases it does slow down. Inline the 32 bit version, the 64 bit is not RAM constrained. Slow down does happen though if you use too many formulas or complex calculations. If you have too many sum products or auto calculations, you might be recalculating on every step, hence the slowdown. It could also be because you are linking the sheet to external sources.
