Introducing G2.ai, the future of software buying.Try now

What’s the best field service management software for a small business?

We’re a small business managing a mobile team, and we’re realizing that spreadsheets and manual scheduling just aren’t cutting it anymore. We’re looking for field service management (FSM) software that can help streamline job dispatching, track our workers in the field, and keep both customers and the team informed, without overwhelming us with features we don’t need.

Here are a few platforms we’ve been checking out on G2:

  1. Salesforce Field Service — Powerful, but is it too enterprise-level for small operations?
  2. Jobber — Designed for small service businesses; how’s the user experience?
  3. Connecteam — Team management focus; does it handle scheduling and field work well?
  4. Housecall Pro — Lots of praise from contractors; is it flexible for different industries?
  5. FieldPulse — Affordable and mobile-first; what’s the support and reliability like?

For those of you using FSM tools:

  • Which one has truly helped your team stay organized and efficient?
  • What’s one thing you love about it — and one thing you wish were better?
  • Would you recommend it to another small business, or are you already eyeing a switch?

Appreciate any wisdom or tips you can share!

Hi there. We’re the team behind FIELDBOSS, so yes, we’re biased… but we also know firsthand how much field service companies struggle when they outgrow spreadsheets. You’ve outlined some great options, and your needs sound a lot like the clients we work with every day. FIELDBOSS was built specifically for contractors in industries like HVAC, elevator, and other specialized field services. What sets us apart? We’re built entirely on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform, which gives you enterprise-level power without adding unnecessary features or unfamiliar software. You can streamline dispatching, track jobs in real-time, automate alerts, and keep both field teams and customers in the loop, all from one system. And because we tailor it to your workflows, it actually fits the way you work. We support a lot of small and mid-sized businesses that want to modernize and grow without adding more complexity. What they love most is having everything connected. What they often tell us? They wish they’d done it sooner. If you’re a growing business looking to scale without switching platforms every few years, check out what our customers say on G2 at https://www.g2.com/products/fieldboss/reviews. Happy to answer any questions if we can help!

I’m curious if any of these tools make it easier to track technician performance over time. It’d be great to get real visibility on how the team is doing, not just manage today’s jobs.
