in the professional edition of tableau desktop: once you open it, you will a section called "to a Server" on the left side menu. with in that, you will see various DB options like: MySQL, Amazon Redshift, etc. select the DB of your choice, and provide that DB info in the pop-up menu. like: server URL, port, username, password. that's it. will be connected with the DB of your choice, then.
