Personally, Confluence killed our endless email threads and chaotic Slack conversations with useful information seating on different google doc files. Now we just drop links to Confluence knowledge base pages and say, "Read this before the meeting begins"

In my opinion the possibility of sharing and editing knowledge easily is a main power here. Every who has rights to editing files could easy correct them and manage who should have an access to them.
