How does it compare to something like Google Drive?

SharePoint and Google Drive offer similar capabilities, although SharePoint is structured better for accommodating organizational structures by separating out navigable document libraries and creating "Sites" for individuals teams/groups. Google Drive is easy to use and intuitive, and the UI is more responsive. For personal use I would recommend Google Drive, since the overhead for administration is much lower. SharePoint administration requires a certain amount of software knowledge and configuration.
