How do you decide on what features will you add to smart sheet?

I have found that it's best to contact a smartsheet customer success manager or solutions manager, meet with them to explain my needs and have them propose a solution. They will let you know what premium features you need for your solution and offer the implementations service. You can decide whether it's something that you can implement in-house or have smartsheet build for you.

Smartsheet is an amazing tool. There is a huge value having someone that can connect the dots with this tool. find a certified user that really understands the format or pay someone to get certified and comfortable with keeping you on the move with all of the format. templates are wonderful, but its like riding a bike, it wont get there without you!

A few questions you need to answer; Do I mainly need to control tasks for various projects then SmartSheet will handle it very well. Are all of the projects follow the same format where a template can be used then SmartSheet will do that well. If you need to do automation, specialized filtering, reporting metrics, then there is come challenging steps. SmartSheet is improving but I believe at a very slow pace which you need to answer how important is the latter features for your organization.

It really depends on what you NEED it to do. I would suggest really sitting down and laying that out and getting everyone on board with that before moving forward. When we originally launched SmartSheet, we didn't do that well. We added in (paid for) customization that ended up being unnecessary and added unneeded complexity to our system. If you can articulate to SS exactly what you are trying to accomplish, they can give you suggestions regarding what they have to get that done. Just be sure that you really nail down what you NEED vs. what you'd like. We did a lot of stuff that we thought we'd like and regretted it.
