Mint is an excellent distro for a server platform and any usage that you may need.
Mint gets slow with time of use on PC, takes time to open files, programs and crashes my system, high consumption of RAM and cannot be optimized automatically without applying code or clean installation.
Personally, Lubuntu is the best option for PCs with low resources, light graphical interface and capable of updating, installing applications and other compiled Ubuntu programs with a simple click. Compatible with all old pc Driver and good use of system...
It uses no visual effects and animations. But that is what it is made for. Using less resources is actually great an i don't want compliant for this.It is less appealing compared to Ubuntu
