Modularity: Xoops' modular design allows flexibility in adding features and customizing functionality. Various modules and themes already exist to easily integrate, though litle older. Easy to setup, modify and use with UI wizards to begin with. I only used it few times for older projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Limited Features: XOOPS lacks some advanced features compared to modern CMS platforms. Outdated: Xoops is a bit outdates type. Not very compititive in today's world, in my personal opinion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ive been using XOOPS CMS for a while now and I have to say it has made many problems. There are options in the realm of Content Management Systems (CMS) XOOPS remains a poor contender. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It does not receive the level of support and updates as some of its competitors. It needs to provide all the necessary features I require. XOOPS CMS falls behind in keeping up with the evolving market trends and lacks capabilities offered by other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's fairly easy to create a custom theme and control the visual aspect using CSS. the modularity of the system allowing you to scale it as needed, without impacting performance visibly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In all fairness, there are other CMSes that raised above the bar and remained on the market as leaders. Support, updates are lacking and when I started working with Xoops, WordPress was acting as a plugin for it. Currently, WP is a leader in the CMS field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Free, easy to use open-source content-management system, well maintained and updated as well as written in PHP, my favorite server-side scripting language. Previously, I have attended XOOPS CMS tech showcase/review in Cincinnati, OH in 2012/2013 and will continue to support XOOPS. :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish that there was a larger audience of XOOPS CMS users and implementors worldwide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Versatility & Flexibility due to availability of powerful Xoops module repository. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is not biased if I say I didn't come across anything major to dislike in Xoops. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Easy installation with no much hassle
- Lots and lots of available modules to add to the core system Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- While the wide variety of modules is one of the advantages, it is one of the disadvantages as well. You need the modules to expand the system, but the modules themselves are not all easy to install and run, and some time lack enough documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a product with a lot of experience since it has been on the market for quite some time. Its installation is quite simple, as it is entirely web-based, requiring only a web server (such as Apache) and the MySQL database engine, all of which are free and open-source. It is completely module-based, so if the necessary module is not available, it can always be sought among third-party products or even created by ourselves if we have the necessary knowledge. Although it has a theme-based interface system, the visual aspect has become a bit outdated and requires a lot of design work to give it a modern look. The administration panel is sometimes a bit confusing and requires a period of adaptation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) It has got Easy installation
2) It has a large repository of installable modules like: http://www.xoops.org/modules/repository/
3) World-wide support and Multiple language support
4) Theme capable Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Xoops installation is simple but to really take advantage of its power you will need to install a number of modules which is Unfortunately time consuming and some of the documentation for these modules is seriously lacking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
