Most of our stack has migrated from PHP to a JavaScript-based codebase, so we switched to Webstorm and only need to use PhpStorm occasionally. The fair pricing model JetBrains offers with PhpStorm means, that we can still keep using our fallback license without being stuck in an infinite recurring pricing scheme. Like other JetBrains IDEs PhpStorm too can be very taxing on system resources. Starting up the application can be slow and once your machine runs out of available memory the IDE will become slow to respond. To make only small changes to a single file one might be better served using a more light-weight code editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PhpStorm is a high-quality IDE for PHP application development. It offers a wide range of features and useful tools, such as debugging, refactoring, code autocompletion, and support for multiple languages. Additionally, it has integration with many popular PHP frameworks like Symfony, Laravel, WordPress, Drupal, among others.
What I like most about PhpStorm is its ability to enhance developer productivity. The code template functions and context-based code completion are excellent for saving time and reducing errors in code writing. Additionally, the ability to handle large projects without sacrificing performance or stability is impressive.
In summary, I highly recommend PhpStorm to any PHP developer looking for a solid IDE with advanced features that increase productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although PhpStorm is a popular IDE among PHP developers, it may not be suitable for everyone. The learning curve can be steep, especially for those who are not familiar with the advanced features of an IDE.
Additionally, the license price can be a barrier for some developers, especially those working on small or personal projects. Although PhpStorm offers a free trial version, it may be insufficient to fully evaluate the tool.
Another possible issue with PhpStorm is that it consumes a lot of system resources, which can slow down the performance of the machine on which it is being used. There may also be compatibility issues with older operating systems or older hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPStorm is the best IDE providing each and every function and feature required to development. Code autocompletions, syntax checking, server connection, db connection everything can be managed from a single UI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPstorm provides a lot of features that's why it becomes too heavy and is not compatible with the systems with less configuarations. Otherwise I don't think I found anything else that I don't like in storm Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is very helpful when trying to find where a class, method or attribute is being used. It integrates very well with Xdebug and docker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be pretty demanding with your system resources, but if you tune it right, it will work very nicely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of starting a project or opening up an old project was virtually flawless. Starting new projects with frameworks was also made simple with built-in functionality. The intellisense provided by PhpStorm also makes coding your projects fast and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setting up the project to run through XAMPP was not as simple as it should have been. Often had to wait several seconds and sometimes minutes for a project to properly save in any directories it was being saved in to properly see the updates made. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is a great PHP developing IDE with many inbuilt tools and features. Using PhpStorm, coding is easy and easy to debuging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a great IDE, this is not an open-source platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPStorm is an all stop show, swiss army knife of PHP development, VCS integration, Automatic deployment to selected host, code analysis and file structure all at the same place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPStorm is a BIG IDE, and it's hungry! Being developed in Java, it's memory hungry, just keep that in mind. You can still use it on a smaller system, but not all the tools will work well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is well-integrated with the PHP programming language. It makes programming in PHP a whole lot easier. Has all the usual tools of the Jetbrains eco system, so excellent all around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't think of anything, to be honest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After trying a few other software for development and coding, I found PHPStorm to be the best one so far. It has everything I require contained within it to make development work smooth and efficient with built-in FTP, database connections, and GIT among other features. As the software has grown and been updated over the years, it does use a lot more memory than it used to, which can sometimes be a downside when you need to run multiple things on your computer without everything lagging/freezing up for a few moments. Syntax highlighting can sometimes take a few minutes to update after making changes, which can be annoying when you want to be sure things are right quickly at a glance.
