MySQL hot backup feature.

Parallel and multithreading feature

Incremental backup

Able to take backups without locking the database which improves efficiency.

What do you dislike about Percona XtraBackup for MySQL?

Complex initial configuration while setting up the incremental backup and using Cloud Object storage as a backup location.

No proper GUI. Having a GUI will make this tool even more powerful.

What problems is Percona XtraBackup for MySQL solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ability to take MySQL hot backup solves backup times for huge databases.

The incremental backup feature in percona xtrabackup which is only available in the enterprise edition.

Able to take backups without locking the database which improves operational efficiency.

What do you like best about Percona XtraBackup for MySQL?

Backupping is transparent to applications

Provides a fast way to backup compared to logical solutions, especially mysqldump Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Percona XtraBackup for MySQL?

As it's a physical backup, it lacks by design some features compared to logical backups

Plus, it should need to be tested to ensure we have a functional backup, which can be a source of pain depending on how/where backups are stored

A "broken" backup could happen if data files are already broken

This is design drawbacks, I do not know if it could be any better regarding these issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Percona XtraBackup for MySQL solving and how is that benefiting you?

It did not solve daily backups unfortunately, we miss some features (possibility to restore some but not every databases)

It helps however for migrations and of course galera SSTs

Benefits are completely clear: ease of managment for galera cluster with the possibility to synchronize a node without interrupting applications while reducing the time needed Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

XtraBackup - Number one in MySQL world! The universe history is divided into 2 periods: before XtraBackup and after! Easy, fast, non-blocking! What else would you need to be safe? Yeah, almost nothing. (Almost, because you must remember - it's binary backup solution and you need additionally check from time to time if data isn't corrupted, but that's absolutely another part of story...)
