"Microsoft's greatest database server on a Web-friendly operating system"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM?
I'm a big fan of SQL Server 2014 and the web edition is a lower-priced, easily licensed version, that you can run on your web server - in this case, Windows Server 2012. What this means is you can easily run Microsoft-based (i.e. .NET, etc.) apps on a web server hosted outside of your organisation gaining flexibility and security, while using a stack your developers are comfortable with. What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Web on Windows Server 2012 RTM?
There's nothing to dislike, but it is worth noting newer versions exist. SQL Server 2016 provides more in-memory functionality, plus query store, etc., while more modern versions of Windows Server exist. However, if you're running a light web server older versions of these products still cut it fine. Just be sure to have a web application firewall or something else to keep you protected from vulnerabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
