What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

We performed detailed and extensive PoC studies with different companies during our vendor selection process. Cplex was the only solver to be able to solve our detailed scheduling problem and IBM was much more professional. What problems is IBM Decision Optimization solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

I have been a long-time user of CPLEX. I am particularly a fan of CPLEX studio, which makes writing large-scale models much faster with a dedicated IDE. Additionally, not enough people take advantage of the Constraint programming, which can be faster than solving a MIP with a traditional solver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Decision Optimization?

I would like to see more of the latest features in CPLEX, like multi-objective, and variable-level control for constraints included in CPLEX Studio Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering IBM Decision Optimization:

When evaluating an engine, it is important to look at several factors. To get the most out of the engine, it is important to use a set of stable models and run the automatic tuning. This will give you the best parameters to use in production and as a comparison with other vendors. What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

Our business is to build Decision Support solution for our customers. IBM CPLEX (Math Programming and Constraint Programming) enables us to so at minimal risks. From my perspective CPLEX brings two major values for us: (i) best solver in the market, which implies that we can enter into a new engagement knowing that we'll be able to solve the math problem efficiently (ii) ability to freely chose between Math Programming and Constraint Programming. -- We often use a combination of both. What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

The IBM decision optimization has a python API that is easy to implement and integrate with python. Also, it is compatible with basically all the versions of python and it is easy to adapt with anaconda. What do you dislike about IBM Decision Optimization?

The software doesn't gives you the ability to modify constraints or the branch and bound technique at low level. Also, the error messages are sometimes inaccurate and can misguide you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

The ease with which I am able to integrate to Matlab and setup my problem formulation. The instructions are clear and the example/sample codes are very helpful. What do you like best about IBM Decision Optimization?

High powered solver with useful examples and flexibility to be used in different formats. We use it on the client for model development and then on a server for production. It comes with both Mathematical and Constraint Programming interface and solver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
