APPCHECK Overview

What is APPCHECK?

AppCheck is a Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) and network vulnerability testing solution, developed and supported by experienced penetration testers. We approach security testing as a hacker would, leveraging multiple proprietary crawling engines to analyse target behaviour across both modern and traditional technologies, including Single Page Applications (SPAs), APIs, and complex authentication flows such as SSO, 2FA, and TOTP. Organisations can conduct unlimited security assessments across Web Applications, SPAs, APIs, cloud services, networks, across internal or external assets. Supporting production and UAT testing, AppCheck also helps organisations ‘shift left’ by integrating with CI/CD pipelines and build servers, including ADO, GitHub, Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI, TravisCI, Bamboo, and GitLab CI/CD. Allowing automated security testing throughout development, identifying risks as soon as changes are introduced. AppCheck are proud to be part of the CVE Numbering Authority (CNA), contributing to global security research

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

We decided to use AppCheck to replace our yearly manual Pen Tests. AppCheck has covered this and more. Since the first contact with the company and all the way through onboarding, everyone has been very friendly and helpful. We got the first scan setup and started on our systems within the first two onboarding sessions, and we have not had any issues since. It is also clear that the people behind AppCheck knows what they are talking about, when it comes to security and scanning of software, web apps, and more. Additionally the possibility for continuous scans was a big benefit, so that we can run the checks as often as we like and ensure the security of our platform. The addition of an integration with our Jira account was a plus, to ease the workflow for fixing potential flaws. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

We do not have a lot to dislike about AppCheck, but there is always room for improvement. Further focus on the user experience, integrations and perhaps more templates or starting points for scans could be a benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

AppCheck is covering our Pen Testing needs for compliance and documentation. In addition to this, they are also providing us with the tools to continuously monitor and stay on top of the security of our platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

Within few demo sessions we were able to create our specific scenarios for pentests. From taking into use, we handed out first tests to stakeholders internally and shifted focus from features to security. Really good and explanatory test results, which can be used in software department but also presentable to C level.

Appcheck definitely replaces manned pentests to an extent. It helps to improve day-to-day security and put focus on it. We were already able to integrate AppCheck to our CI/CD pipeline. Support at AppCheck helps quickly, even if it was users fault. The knowledge-base and FAQ should be an example to all SaaS providers out there. And within first few months of using, we can see continuous improvement in features and new functionality. Main benefit - both our tech team and C-level is happy.

Feature list and functionality described by technical sales team and reality was 1:1 match. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

First onboarding sessions could be replaced with tutorials or video lectures. And after that (or exam or checklist) we could have deeper dive with human to our specific tests/issues/results. Most of tech sector is living off of Youtube tutorials and how-to's - that's the way we've reached here. I did not see a huge benefit or value there. As first steps in using AppCheck are universal across all customers. It is not a dislike, but more of a room for improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

First and foremost - the confidence and quality assurance in our products. Secondly - the ISO27 and partners expectation in security posture. And lately we didn't see benefit of hiring mid-level pentesters versus using AppCheck on our own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

AppCheck is an excellent tool to provide full visibility into our estate and embed security into the CI/CD pipeline. Traditional pen testing provides too little too late. AppCheck allows us to identify issues early and fix them before they are released to production then continue to monitor the estate as new vulnerabilities are identified. This saves cost and valuable development time. The web interface is clear and easy to use and the reports provide guidance for how to fix the vulnerabilities. Our experience with AppCheck has been excellent from pre-sales through onboarding and support. They have been very responsive, listened to our questions and concerns and helped us to address them quickly. Implement is easy as long you as follow their guidance document. A big shout to Isaac, our account manager, for getting us to this point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

The only thing we don’t like is having to raise a support ticket to amend the scan list. This is not a big problem but would be more convenient to be able to do it ourselves. Other than that – nothing! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows us to embed continuous security testing into our CI/CD pipeline Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

AppCheck has been simple to get up and running. The ability to run as many scans as needed and the simplicity of doing that has been a real benefit compared to outsourcing a vulnerability scan as and when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

It took a while to fully understand the process but the the team at AppCheck helped us through this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using AppCheck we would outsource scanning on an annual basis. This bought significant cost and infrequency of scanning. AppCheck has allowed us to scan for vulnerabilities on our applications and infrastructure using a timeframe that suits us. This helps us ensure our products are secured and maintained against the latest threats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

I have been using AppCheck for the past few months, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and capabilities. As someone who prioritises cybersecurity, I find AppCheck to be an invaluable tool in safeguarding my digital assets. It has provided us to move away from traditional 1 penetration test per year to as many times as we like throughout the weeks or months. This has given us greater insight into the current threats of the organisation rather than wait around for any potential breach or cyber security assessment in the future. The solution was very easy to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

At the moment we haven't found any particular issue with App Check, it is doing what we wanted it to and is easy to use. The only downside i would say is not being able to amend our scan list of IP's which requires a support ticket to be raised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

AppCheck has solved the problem of one penetration test per a year internally and externally. We can now can our infrastructure as many as times as we like throughout the year therefore raising our cyber security posture with less known issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about APPCHECK?

We have subscribed to AppCheck for automated pen testing as well as manual testing. We use it weekly to check our code base and to ensure we haven't accidentally slipped in any known vulnerabilities in our code. The web interface is easy to use and is very good at generating a report. Setting up was easy and very straightforward and easily integrated into our systems. Our account manager Tom Edwards has been very proactive and is really helpful and accomodating to our specific needs re pen testing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

Can't think of anything negative, their product does exactly what we want it to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

Firstly, we are under obligation to perform annual pen tests by an accredited provider to remain ISO 27001 accredited. Seondly, it is really helpful to have an automatic check of our code to ensure our product remains vulnerability-free. The code scanning solution saves us time and money. What do you like best about APPCHECK?

It's quite easy to learn and adapt. It's got the features that all commercial scanning systems should have.

The reports are very professional and provide a good level of details about the vulnerabilities found. There are also good levels of settings that can be enabled and tweaked to have very customized scans. To set it up, it's quite easy to do so.

There are also good integrations with JIRA as well as Go script. This enables me to run the scan as part of compliancy needs regularly. I have rarely needed support but whenever I have reached out to them, they have been quite good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about APPCHECK?

I somehow would like to have a self service portal to add urls / scan targets as sometimes I am a little blocked by this move. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is APPCHECK solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps us meet our regular compliance requirements for performing internal & external tests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
