580 Ahrefs Reviews

Ahrefs is hands down one of the best SEO tools I've used. The depth and accuracy of the data, particularly around backlinks and keyword rankings, are top-tier. The UI is clean, intuitive, and mostly easy to navigate, making it simple to get from insight to action quickly. I use it regularly for keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, and content ideation. The UX strikes a great balance between being user-friendly and powerful, rare in enterprise-grade SEO tools. It’s the tool I trust most when I need reliable, up-to-date data fast. The biggest challenge is that there's so much data available that it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming to pinpoint exactly what I need. It’s a good problem to have, but a little more customization or simplification in certain areas could help. What I will say, though, is that the support that comes with the Enterprise-level account helps significantly alleviate this; I love our rep.
Also, the crawling functionality isn't as strong as other specialized tools on the market so I tend to use a separate crawler when I need deeper technical audits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ahrefs is a full service SEO tool, that my team has been using for over two years.
Ahrefs does not sugar coat anything. Yes, there are trainings and their content team will go above and beyond of teaching you SEO but this tool is designed for the SEO not for the Sales Manager who took over Marketing.
In the tool you can find everything from backlink data, to SERP positioning. You can also get a handy preview of the SERPs which is good to see.
They also have technical connections to Looker Studio which is great for those looking toc create dashboards.
Need I add, their sales team was also a blast to work with. At no point do I feel like another customer instead I feel like a member of the family. Tool was easy to set up and implementation only took a few days. (Thanks Rob and Haley!) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ahrefs is not a tool designed for those who need an extra hand. Ahrefs is an SEO specialist or Manager's dreamtool, and designed with SEOs in mind.
This means often times, it will skip on design and UX elements for excel like rows or important stats. An upgrade in the visual representation could go a long ways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ahrefs stands out for its comprehensive backlink analysis and keyword research tools. The Site Explorer offers deep insights into competitor strategies, while the Content Explorer is great for discovering trending content in any niche. I also appreciate the clear UI and regularly updated data. For agencies and marketers, the ability to track keyword movement, monitor backlinks, and audit websites at scale is incredibly helpful. It's an all-in-one SEO suite that simplifies complex tasks and helps you stay ahead of the competition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing can be steep for small businesses or freelancers, especially if you’re just starting out. Some useful features, like historical data or advanced reports, are locked behind higher-tier plans. Also, while the tool is feature-rich, it has a learning curve for beginners, particularly if you're unfamiliar with SEO terminology or data interpretation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ahrefs is a great SEO "Swiss Army Knife" for grabbing site and competitive data on positions, backlinks, tech issues, etc., but the main selling point for me has been their Project system. This allows you to import any number of owned web properties in your Google Search Console account, and crawl or track data for them. There's a limit to "unverified" projects (i.e., sites you don't own), but there's no limit to verified projects. So, I'm able to pretty easily grab data for all 400+ domains my company works with. With other tools this level of scale usually has some per-site cost, making it typically prohibitively expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As other reviews have mentioned, the crawling capabilities of Ahrefs' Site Audit feature - while rather good - are not quite as robust as other options out there. For me the big one is a lack of custom extraction; ScreamingFrog is still the king in that regard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how Ahrefs gives me a crystal-clear picture of what our ideal customers are searching for. From content gaps to backlink opportunities, everything is laid out so cleanly. The keyword and site explorer tools are goldmines, I can identify high-intent prospects and share super-targeted insights with my team and clients. It’s not just for SEO folks; even in sales, it’s a powerhouse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be a bit intimidating at first there’s just so much data. Took me some time (and a few tutorials) to figure out what mattered most for my sales workflow. I’d love to see more role-specific onboarding guides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ahrefs has been a game-changer for us. It’s fast, reliable, and makes SEO research so much easier; especially when running audits or digging into backlinks. The training resources are good, making it simple for the whole team to get up to speed. A big shoutout to our account manager as well; who is helpful, easy to work with, and always quick to respond. Overall, it’s a great platform that we now rely on every day. Would recommend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
User interface can be a bit overwhelming it you're not committed to completing the training resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ahrefs has been one of the most valuable tools in our SEO stack at HIREQUARTERS. It gives us deep visibility into competitor strategies, backlink profiles, keyword opportunities, and technical site health. We use it daily for link building, content gap analysis, and to monitor ranking performance across competitive iGaming and crypto niches. Its reliable data has helped us refine our content strategies and scale organic growth efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a bit of a complicated interface, so it's not that beginner-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I personally love is the Site Explorer and Content Gap feature. It has helped me discover low-hanging opportunities and create data-driven strategies for both client and in-house projects. The backlink database is incredibly vast, and the update frequency ensures I’m never behind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ahrefs is powerful, but its high pricing and limited project slots can be challenging for freelancers and small teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Tools, constantly innovating, SEO research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is little to be said about things I dislike about Ahrefs, but if I had to choose, I would say that paywalls for tools are great, but I feel like we no longer get new things for free. I like that we are innovating with AI, but I dislike that we have the opportunity to pay for additional items every few months to use the latest and greatest. Ahrefs is the best SEO tool out there. Compared to other paid subscriptions, Ahrefs offers great data that is more accurate and actionable compared to competitors. The software is very easy to use and the support from the Ahrefs team has been phenomenal. The hardest part is having to debate your coworkers on how to pronounce it! Haley Kieser has been a great contact and Accoung Manager for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
