Why so many "features"?

For years Dropbox is adding more and more very cluggy, cpu-consuming and completely unnecessary features. For example the "smart sync" feature, what the hell is that about? A perfect example of something not only unnecessary but confusing "feature". It only bring uncertainty for me as a user because the 2 options "Local" and "Online only" are only making me wonder "what do you mean, i have the files with or without selective sync on this computer locally, and EVERYTHING is online"! If this is an attempt of a simpler or "lazy" selective sync, it is terrible implemented. Indexing a large dropbox is a cpu and memory intensive task in itself, not to mention the bandwidth you need at initial device setup to collect everything, even with LAN sync. I do not understand why bother us life-long users with additional totally unnecessary features which in most cases its impossible to turn off? Again example, "camera sync".
