Chrome OS and Chromium OS are both Linux-based operating systems that use the Chromium web browser. Chrome OS is a for-profit product, whereas Chromium OS is free and open source. Chrome OS automatically updates, but Chromium OS does not.

Chrome OS is developed keeping in mind about the Google applications. Whereas Chromium is more open source application based. Chrome OS is designed and maintained by Google.
