In the reporting, whats a unique view?

We have been using Webtrends Optimize for a while now. Does anyone know what the difference is between a unique view and all views? Or Unique Conversions and All conversions. Whats the best one to measure our conversion rates with?

To summarise this for you, Unique Views is a metric to look at each individual visitor across all of their sessions within the duration of a test project. Multiple visits to the test page are counted once for the test duration. Unique conversions operates similarly. Multiple conversions are only counted the once for the test project duration. Total Views/Total Conversions count ALL page views and ALL conversions. An easy way to look at this is by looking at a purchase, if a user comes on to your website 3 times before purchasing this would appear as 3 views and only 1 conversion when looking in Total Views/Total Conversions. If you were to look at Unique Views/Unique Conversions, then you would see this as 1 view and 1 conversion. In terms of the "best" method to use, it really depends on your site traffic and success criteria. For example, if you goal is customer acquisition related, then Unique visitors & Unique conversions will serve you best. If your site has a lot of returning visits and you are more interested in increasing the number of times a visitor converts in a time period, then Unique Visitors and All conversions will be more meaningful. Hope that helps! Mike
