Does the gap between updates affect its selling 'power'?

Usually I don't receive many updates from IntelliJ regarding the updates, so just wanted to clear that in my mind.

No, I don't believe so. The product generally updates 3 or 4 times a year. O central at the beginning followed by some larger quarterly feature and bug updates.
