I had a chance to try out Deepseek (a Chinese alternative to ChatGPT) this weekend. And while it was very similar to ChatGPT, I was fairly impressed with it as a search engine. I haven't tried any other functionality.

Has anyone had the chance to try it out?
Hi Bashir! We testing it, locally too.
Unfortunately right now is literally offline!
Due to large-scale malicious attacks on DeepSeek's services, registration may be busy. Please wait and try again. Registered users can log in normally. Thank you for your understanding and support.
I will update my response when I have completed a deep use to the point of exposing it, but certainly now, I can affirm with certainty that it is a technology not to be avoided.
Just a "quick point" about:

Hi Luca,
It's crazy what happened yesterday - Deepseek caused chaos on Wall Street for the US Tech stocks and then suffered a major hack.
I was planning on using it a lot this week, but my plans (like yours) will have to be 'put on hold' for now.
Let's see how the story develops - Things are happening so fast.
It conceals sensitive/ provide misleading information related to China/Hong Kong/Taiwan, and other aspects seem fine to use. It will be a useful tool for general daily tasks and serves as an affordable alternative to OpenAI.
As someone familiar with the region where this AI was developed, I prefer to avoid sharing any sensitive information during chats.
Bashir, you are the third person I've seen mention Deepseek in the last 24 hours. I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't heard of it prior to yesterday, but I will definitely be checking it out.
I found this thread on X really interesting. The author really broke it down in an easy way to understand – even for a layman like me.
Hi Brett,
What a crazy series of events - Just today, it has wiped billions of Dollars from US Tech stocks, has also been hacked and found itself the most downloaded App in the US.
Here's the news -

Hello Mehandi,
Wow, that is amazing. You saved almost 2 hours and 45 minutes and over 13 times the output.
Please let us know how your future testing/experimenting and benchmark comparisons between them goes? - I'm sure we will be fascinated by future results too.
Thanks again for these insights.
