Can a Zendesk end-user record be auto-updated from a contact form submission?

Is it possible for contact form submission information (submitted by customers/end users) to be directly updated in the end user's Zendesk profile? For example, if a contact form submission comes in and the end-user submits their phone number, we have to manually enter this information into their contact record on Zendesk. If not, and the user calls in with this number, it will not recognize that they are the same person that submitted the contact form. It would be great if there was a way to automate the contact record update from the form submission. Any insight on this would be appreciated!
