Why standalone application for chat is not available yet . it would have been very helpful to sue

I would say Using chat from browser is very old and hectic way . because one has to use browser for lot of other things and in between that keeping an eye over hangouts chat tab is very difficult and time consuming instead standalone applications are always easy to use
