What happened to Windows 9?

Many people expected this version to be called Windows 9. For whatever reason, Microsoft decided to skip a version number and go straight to Windows 10.

Some Windows 9 fans might be disappointed that this release is called Windows 10. Bugs and features alike will likely make their way into the next version of Microsoft's operating system, but it looks like we'll have to wait until 2020 for a major overhaul.
