Laptops will always have more heating issues than desktops due to the economy of space (less airflow, less cooling). So using Salad on desktop is definitely recommended. If you've custom-built your PC, then you can specifically design for greater cooling, through:
1) more fans
2) airflow design
3) liquid cooling
However, while Salad has certainly caused a few machines to run hot - we've never run into issues with actual hardware damage, and it's generally safe to use Salad on any PC - so long as you keep it clean and take the proper precautions (up to date drivers, temp monitoring, etc).
Furthermore, the more powerful and efficient your hardware is, the more effective your time spent chopping will be. CPUs and GPUs that have high hashrates coupled with low electricity usage (AMD lines especially) will maximize your earning potential with Salad.
