How do I best use Toggl for seamless time tracking when working on 2 laptops and my phone at the same time while using the Toggle button, web and desktop version?

I find myself clicking on 3 different screens to extend idle time from one or the other, but I work on all so have the program on all. I am also trying to incorporate the use of the Toggl Button in order to time myself for getting more done in the same amount of time, but for some reason can't yet figure out how to incorporate it effectively. Also, what are the advantages of the desktop version vs the web version? The web version seems to be complete except for the web page time tracking. Thank you!

It's a great question. Short version is, while it's great to have Toggl on all platforms, and it's great that they automagically sync up (eventually), you can definitely get yourself sideways. Say you start timing something on your laptop, walk away, start something else, realize you want to time it, and pull out your phone. I usually have to wait upwards of 30 seconds for the phone based Toggl to update its status to match the timer on my laptop. If I don't wait for it to sync and start timing the new thing right away, it all SORT OF sorts itself out, but I inevitably have to go back later and clean up the time entries. My recommendation is to prefer one of them over all others and use it preferentially -- only using the others when the primary one is inaccessible. Bottom line: time tracking at ALL requires discipline. Therefore, being disciplined about which version of the tool you default to, should be not that much harder -- and frankly might make your time tracking habit stronger since you're being more consistent.

Are you working on 3 different projects that you are timing independently of each other? I work on multiple screens but on the same project, so I just use Toggl on one of the computers to time what I am doing. I have only used the web version - it is complete enough for what I need so I have never checked out the desktop version. I don't use the Toggl Button - maybe that is not on the web based version? So I can't answer that question. Sorry.

I am sorry, I cannot help. I use toggl with a macbook air and an iphone and it works fine. Sometimes, it takes the sync lags a bit, but it catches up.
