It is quite difficult to say which tool is generally better. In my perspective Adobe Captivate has advantages when comes to creating software simulations. The object style manager simplifies inserting text boxes with correct font and font size. Articulate Storyline is more powerful in creating interactions because you have more options.

I have to agree. I have used both extensively and will use Captivate now only for screen captures. Otherwise, Storyline is way easier to use, more robust for development and has a better support community.

This s a matter of opinion, but the short answer is probably Storyline. Captivate is still the king of screen captures. Though you can capture screens and create demos/sims with Storyline, the editing power specifically for screen captures in Captivate is superior. However, building and programming e-learning content is a much better experience in Storyline. So unless your eLearning content is very screen capture-heavy on average, Storyline is what I'd suggest.
