Does it make sense to switch to new versions of the current version of Ios, if the level of speed and security of the system suits me, but the system says otherwise?

Yes that is the best choice to get into new version of Ios because everytime they are improving the app compatibility.

Yes it does make sense, you would want to upgrade than to have an issue later on when you have limited access to some features..Staying up to date is the key to enjoying you Apple products.
