As it is not an answer, I'll just reply with a suggestion, have you tried Systrace? And why is it slow? If you learn to debug, which takes some time, it becomes pretty straightforward. Android Studio as it is from the IntelliJ team, it has many options and many ways to make the programmer's work easier and smoother, you just have to discover and check them out :)
