It depends on how long you wish to spend on said slide. If you have an automated slide show with just photos, I would give each photo about 5 to 10 seconds each. If there are any words on the slide, time how long it takes to read those words and then add 5 seconds. This will allow anyone watching the automatic presentation the time they need to read everything. You can also lengthen or shorten time on slides depending on how important it is to you that the viewer spends time looking at it.
