Assuming you're on a Window's Machine (likely windows 10). If you're on another OS / Computer, let me know. Anyways, on Windows 10 In the search bar in the lower left of your screen, type "default" and the top search result should be "set default apps" - click on it. in the new pop up screen you'll see a bunch of file types and corresponding applications (apps) that are used to open them. scroll down past those to a link that says "choose default apps by file type" and click there. it will open a new windows. Scroll down to text files (.txt) and you'll see notepad (default) to the right. Click on it and it will bring up a list of installed apps that open this file type. Choose Notepad++ and the close all windows and you're done. Let me know if you have any questions.
