Replication of RDS based db's is a bit time taking in my experience. SSH is not supported so Linux based environments is a challange. Also, RDS is very much centred around AWS so using another cloud service like ibm, gcc might be hard, though I have tested.

The Google Cloud team refuses to even give a timeline on when it will be deployed! All of their competitors already support MySQL 8.0, I really do not understand why it's taking so long.
