"The rise of a unique digital experience builder"
What do you like best about Vev?

User Interface: I pay a lot of attention to that in web-based software is its user interface. VEV's one is very well crafted with neat micro-interactions for the best onboarding and digital design creation experience.

Workspace: I was delighted to be able to share with collaborators, set colors and fonts (Google + Custom). This is a great way to start on the right foot!

Design Space: The main space where all happen with robust architecture for me to unleash the unlimited power of digital design with layout sections, colors and gradients management on the flow, Unsplash integration, videos built-in encoding engine, typography full control, vector icons editability, granular styles feature for typographic/graphic element... All functional features that an experienced designer/digital designer expects to use for the best creative and effective workflow.

Vev Store: The new interactive components library gives me a versatile power to implement efficient and beautiful dynamic interactions and animations. Lottie integration is one of my favorites, as video and audio integrations give a full range of access to well known third party providers. This store is just the beginning, as the Vev team constantly updates with digital industry best animation tools in mind. A must take into consideration!

Animations: From their starting library of animations (i.e On Load, On Hover, On Click...) that will certainly grow, I particularly love the layers of scenarios you can develop just for one category of animations. I loved the quality of animated thumbnails previews of each property. All combinations are possible to get out of the box of your imagination realtime in canevas and preview mode. From simple to complex animations, you decide!

Project Status: in the Design Space, I was enchanted to discover the implementation of the well known Agile status markups, that VEV adapted to its DNA: Needs Reviews, On Hold, In Progress, Ready to Publish. I experienced that you can only Publish when project status is marked as Ready to Publish. Perfect for evolutive collaborating workflows!

Page Settings: A dream come true with a complete built-in easy to set standard features for SEO. Realtime display for Facebook and Google previews, when filling fields like Page Title and Description. Also, tabs like "Home, Set as 404, Set Photo, Reset Photo" are so relevant and efficient about obviousness. Cheery on the cake, you can mark the status for each page. So smart for staging purposes!

Code: No code, no web, no web-app, no app! This is the DNA of the Web as a fact. I am not coder, and I will never be one. As I am understanding the fundamentals of Code. I am a Digital Designer! The best thing is to be able to reunite Designers and Coders in a relevant, efficient collaboration to reach the highest creativity, innovation, and having fun together (why not?). This is possible in some emerging web-based site builders, as VEV makes it its way with the promising Project Widget, where custom widget creation is the no-limit feature to craft and publish the impossible!

Miscellaneous: Guides and Grid is a promising feature that will bring a granular way of work for those who love to layout with a grid (I am one of those). Shortcuts are well documented with intuitively in mind, to accelerate your in-context design flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Section on Canvas: I still confused about the behavior of the section when scrolling the whole project on canvas. The first and the last section are not fixed to indicate the start and the end of your page. That works perfectly when clicking a section on Layers sidebar.

Responsiveness: As this feature works fine, I would love to have an automatic responsive layout result for mobile device allowed me to refine them to reach an adaptive experience. But the design experience customization for each device without any effect on all of them is working great.

Missing Features: Not a dislike, but an indicative request to reach the top-notch built-in features spectrum. I think specifically about e-commerce widgets, dynamic data integration, dynamic content widgets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Vev?

Really Fast, Easy to use. The interface makes it feel like a design tool. Our team is using Sketch as design tool and its really fast to export all the assets and import them into Vev. This way we can create really stunning designs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to create custom made webpages that clients will pay extra for"
What do you like best about Vev?

The interface is easy to understand - especially if you already know Adobe Creative Cloud products like Photoshop and illustrator. Updates come often so there is always new widgets and features. When challenges arise we contact Vev and they are always quickly to replay and find a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

It seems that there isn't always a correlation between what you see on your website in preview-mode and what you see on a computer or phone when you've published the website. This just means that you have to do more testing but fair enough considering how easy it is to scale your website from desktop to phone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Genuine professional web builder - done right!"
What do you like best about Vev?

As a user I like the hands-on GUI, which may seem a bit daunting at first, but is such a powerful editor and tool as soon as you get a bit familiar with it.

As a developer I'm soothed by the fact that the GUI and the (resulting) code is tightly coupled in quite a beautiful and good way -- which I know for a fact isn't something that is easy to do right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

The learning curve to start building useful sites is still a little steep, in my opinion. I can tell it's getting better by the week though, with the help of more on-point documentation and good templates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-friendly and a powerful tool!"
What do you like best about Vev?

What I really like about Vev is that it's so fast and easy to use. You as a designer could be up and running with a project in no time and you have a lot of freedom with the creating since you don't have to code everything. So you can just focus in the visuals and making your site look good. Plus the support is first class! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

The only "negative" thing is that some bugs occur but the Vev-support is so fast and helpful so I don't see this as a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mats Hartvig Abrahamsen of Vev

"Good for simple content and sketching, too unreliable for "heavier" work"
What do you like best about Vev?

User friendly and intuitive in most ways. Lots of easily applied options and animations for quick sketching and mockups for ourselves and clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Too unreliable, especially when it comes to animations, and when setting up websites with several pages the outcome might vary from page to page even though the content is identically set up. Often the outcome from the preview is drastically different from the actually published page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mats Hartvig Abrahamsen of Vev

Thanks for the feedback, Stian.

We believe that the different outcomes you're referring to might be because of percentage heights on some pages instead of pixel heights. To nail positioning and percentage height, have a look at these articles: https://help.vev.design/hc/en-us/articles/360018904394-Sections and https://help.vev.design/hc/en-us/articles/360022672373-Origin.

We'd love some more feedback on your issues with animations.

"Great, flexible platform"
What do you like best about Vev?

We don't depend that much on the developers anymore Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

There are some functions that are not intuitive when you're not experienced. It also freezes A LOT when working in it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mats Hartvig Abrahamsen of Vev

Hi Thea! Thanks for your feedback. We have been in contact with your team about the issue and discovered that some of your developers were pushing their components without testing (making your projects freeze). We have instructed them on how to test before sharing components. Let us know if you are still facing these issues and we'll assist.

"An invaluable and powerful tool for a designer"
What do you like best about Vev?

Vev is extremely intuitive and easy to use. I was able to start creating visuals from the moment I logged in. It’s an intuitive system that’s easy to learn, flexible and powerful. It's easy to be creative and test new ideas without having to involve our developers. This makes our design process cost effective and enables us to quickly sketch up solutions to our customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

There are some tiny bugs, but nothing that the support team doesn’t solve for in an instance. Their quick-response time ensures that I’m getting the help I need in no time! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mats Hartvig Abrahamsen of Vev

"One of the most powerful web editors out there"
What do you like best about Vev?

Im a techie, and I lowed the tools and powerful ways to design your webpage! It was definitely fun to work with, and I was able to everything I wanted in that tool! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Not much, it is early so any bugs or anything I would just expect. Maybe a simpler hosting mechanism would be nice. Integrations with simple things like firebase or other static content hosters. A future CMS would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Super simple - yet imensly powerful"
What do you like best about Vev?

The best part of Vev is its simplicity. You will have only half a day on-boarding if you are a skilled designer - at a max. You do not need to be a web-designer with code skills to be able to create amazing web-sites. At the same time, there are no barrieres for coders to do their magic if required. Support is by far the best I have experienced on any product in this category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

There are a still a few bugs here and there, but nothing that have affected production. Navigation between projects and pages could be more intuitive, but its ok as you get used to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mats Hartvig Abrahamsen of Vev

Thank you, Björn! We'll see what we can do regarding the navigation UX.
