"The rise of a unique digital experience builder"
What do you like best about Vev?
User Interface: I pay a lot of attention to that in web-based software is its user interface. VEV's one is very well crafted with neat micro-interactions for the best onboarding and digital design creation experience.
Workspace: I was delighted to be able to share with collaborators, set colors and fonts (Google + Custom). This is a great way to start on the right foot!
Design Space: The main space where all happen with robust architecture for me to unleash the unlimited power of digital design with layout sections, colors and gradients management on the flow, Unsplash integration, videos built-in encoding engine, typography full control, vector icons editability, granular styles feature for typographic/graphic element... All functional features that an experienced designer/digital designer expects to use for the best creative and effective workflow.
Vev Store: The new interactive components library gives me a versatile power to implement efficient and beautiful dynamic interactions and animations. Lottie integration is one of my favorites, as video and audio integrations give a full range of access to well known third party providers. This store is just the beginning, as the Vev team constantly updates with digital industry best animation tools in mind. A must take into consideration!
Animations: From their starting library of animations (i.e On Load, On Hover, On Click...) that will certainly grow, I particularly love the layers of scenarios you can develop just for one category of animations. I loved the quality of animated thumbnails previews of each property. All combinations are possible to get out of the box of your imagination realtime in canevas and preview mode. From simple to complex animations, you decide!
Project Status: in the Design Space, I was enchanted to discover the implementation of the well known Agile status markups, that VEV adapted to its DNA: Needs Reviews, On Hold, In Progress, Ready to Publish. I experienced that you can only Publish when project status is marked as Ready to Publish. Perfect for evolutive collaborating workflows!
Page Settings: A dream come true with a complete built-in easy to set standard features for SEO. Realtime display for Facebook and Google previews, when filling fields like Page Title and Description. Also, tabs like "Home, Set as 404, Set Photo, Reset Photo" are so relevant and efficient about obviousness. Cheery on the cake, you can mark the status for each page. So smart for staging purposes!
Code: No code, no web, no web-app, no app! This is the DNA of the Web as a fact. I am not coder, and I will never be one. As I am understanding the fundamentals of Code. I am a Digital Designer! The best thing is to be able to reunite Designers and Coders in a relevant, efficient collaboration to reach the highest creativity, innovation, and having fun together (why not?). This is possible in some emerging web-based site builders, as VEV makes it its way with the promising Project Widget, where custom widget creation is the no-limit feature to craft and publish the impossible!
Miscellaneous: Guides and Grid is a promising feature that will bring a granular way of work for those who love to layout with a grid (I am one of those). Shortcuts are well documented with intuitively in mind, to accelerate your in-context design flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Vev?
Section on Canvas: I still confused about the behavior of the section when scrolling the whole project on canvas. The first and the last section are not fixed to indicate the start and the end of your page. That works perfectly when clicking a section on Layers sidebar.
Responsiveness: As this feature works fine, I would love to have an automatic responsive layout result for mobile device allowed me to refine them to reach an adaptive experience. But the design experience customization for each device without any effect on all of them is working great.
Missing Features: Not a dislike, but an indicative request to reach the top-notch built-in features spectrum. I think specifically about e-commerce widgets, dynamic data integration, dynamic content widgets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
