Rainforest QA Overview

What is Rainforest QA?

Rainforest QA is an AI-accelerated test automation service. Working within Rainforest’s no-code platform, Rainforest's experienced Test Managers can create and maintain your end-to-end tests up to three times faster than QA engineers using open source frameworks. For less than a quarter of the cost. Rainforest’s patent-pending AI can automatically update — or “heal” — tests when you make intended changes to your app, reducing the time you have to spend waiting for your tests to get updated. Your team never has to maintain a test, and the only test failures you hear about are the ones pointing to bugs you want to fix. Talk to us about customizing a plan to fit your needs.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

Intuitive, no-code platform: Our Test Managers — accelerated by AI — can create and maintain automated test coverage up to 3x faster than QA engineers using open-source frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.

No black boxes: Anyone from your team can quickly interpret or update your test coverage without any training or technical skills.

Visual-first: Rainforest primarily interacts with the visual layer of your app, not the DOM. That is, it uses your app like real users would, giving you confidence your tests are protecting the user experience.

Not limited to browsers: Test anything that appears on a macOS or Windows VM screen.

Patent-pending AI: When you make intended changes to your web app’s appearance or functionality, our patent-pending AI can automatically update — or “heal” — the relevant test steps. So, human-powered test maintenance is completely avoided.

60-day money-back guarantee.

"Rainforest has gone above and beyond to help us with our QA needs!"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

The best thing about working with RainforestQA is how they have always been flexible and willing to work with us as QA in our company has evolved. I also cannot say enough good things about their customer service and CSM folks. We've gone through several CSM's and each one has been wonderful! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Early on, there were difficulties getting used to their platform and some growing pains with regard to ease of test creation and management, however, Rainforest worked closely with us during this time, gave advice, and ultimately helped us move past these issues with the implementation of a test manager.

There have also been very helpful updates to their software, like the test writing service which brings in the crowd to help us edit our tests. Things like this have improved the experience for us and we're excited to see what they'll come up with in the future! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rainforest is a great product that can improve test coverage in less time than traditional testing."
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

Embeddable tests are essential for building variable tests without needing to record the same screenshot potentially multiple times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Screenshot confidence between browsers lacks a bit; font-weight/size is affected between Chrome and Safari. For example, and is causing failures in automated testing in some browsers while passing in others with no fundamental difference in the testing logic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive test coverage with a tasful blend of precision and speed"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

The user interface and ability to create tests that cover the entire product. Moreover, the customer service team is very approachable and provide valuable feedback in bettering our tests. Also their availability on slack is just icing on the cake. Furthermore, the comments testers leave on failed steps that are actually should have failed is extremely valuable and helps us fill in the gaps of our test that we may have overlooked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

The RFQA automation test that uses crowdsourcing can at times enroll testers who sometimes fail on trivial steps of the test. While approaching product release, this on one occasion has lead our team to manually run those tests. This in turn required us to spent quite a few hours.

The RFQA exploratory team is more adept in running tests. It would be nice if a level close to this is seen on the RFQA automation team. Otherwise the RFQA platform is extremely easy to use, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing Crowdsourced QA Testing"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

The help chat is always there whenever you have any issue, and the response and resolution time is far above average among vendors I have used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Currently, the VMs do not have audio/visual input support, not even simulated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Makes QA Work Efficient and Easy"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

Ease of use - there are multiple ways to write a test; plain English, automation, you can even submit a video and have test writers write the test on your behalf. When writing tests, the ability to preview tests before publishing is also a nice feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Coming up with test data. Our company deals with a lot pf PII, so spending time making fake files can be a bit of a hassle, but that'd be the case with or without Rainforest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Experience"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

Because we are short-staffed, it is nice having Rainforest to fall back on. They show you your history of running each test, they have automation as well as tests that utilize human intervention. If you need help writing a test, they will write or rewrite it for you! They assign a program manager to you so you can ask questions about the product. My PM, Dave, is the best! I have has a positive experience over all! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Rainforest does not fully understand our application so its hard figuring out how to use the exploratory test or test writing services to create new tests. This is not a flaw on Rainforest's part, necessarily. This is just how it works since they are a third party tool and it is up to me to communicate new features to them. "My Rainforest for the most part, has been responsive, dependable, reliable, and accurate."
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

I like the fact that the test case writing process is as simple as your understanding for the feature you are writing for. By having the english step by step option, test case writing looks more like a story that the crowd tester is integrated with than just a dumb terminal running a test case suite. Also the feedback from the crowd makes it easy to troubleshoot the issue or add more clear and concise verbiage to the existing test case. Lastly,I like it that Rainforest has decided to bolster their initiative to make the automation testing more robust. I look forward to harness the potential power of such a testing tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

I dislike the amount of time that it takes to spin up a virtual machine instance for the English written cases as well as the automation cases. There are times when I have waited several minutes for the terminal to be ready. In our world that seems like a lifetime. I also am not fond of the amount of time that it takes for the automation to cache and run the test cases after the vm has loaded. It does not appear to front load the cases and then run them instead it appears that it reads each test case in serial prior to loading and then running. I am also not a fan of not having some sought of library that can be used when creating the automation cases. Lastly, there should be an auto save for the automation case writing so that you don't lose hours of work because somehow the window got closed or navigated away from. "Deploy and sleep sounder at night"
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

- test creation is simple via screen shots

- easy to use api for ci/cd integration

- tests are easily reviewable because of video playback

- ability to run tests via automation or via crowd

- tagging system for separating false positives from real issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

- mobile support (browser) could be a bit stronger

- tests can take some time to run

- refactoring test steps can be a little monotonous Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Innovative approach to QA that allowed us to get coverage in record time."
What do you like best about Rainforest QA?

The ability to run "manual" test on demand and get results within hours and not days. Also the Rainforest Team is very helpful and responsive, we have worked with them to provide feedback and they have help us with or ambitious automation goals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rainforest QA?

Most of the issues that I dislike are unique to our process and products. The way tests are linked to "sites" makes it difficult for some of our integration goals. Not being able to track tests results across an arbitrary "release record/tag" and get that info via the api. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
