"Database engine"
What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

It is the most advanced currently and open source, which makes it an endless array of advantages: Unlimited and free installation for different operating systems, Unix, Linux, and Windows of 32 and 64 bits, it is capable of adjusting to the hardware (processors and available RAM) to create optimal performance. Databases can be managed graphically with the pgAdmin tool, making it an easier and more intuitive way to manage a database. It is powerful, stable, and secure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

In small databases, it is somewhat slow in insertions, improving in this aspect as the database gets larger. It does not have official support as such. It has official forums where you can address any questions or problems you may have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PostgreSQL - The perfect database for our needs"
What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

One of the best feature of it is it's array datataype. We needed to define a table with a huge amount of floating data fields/columns. The normal column amount was restricted to 1300 fields. For our use case we needed more and dynamically. Postgresql offered us the array datatype double which doesn't restrict us in the amount of values and can easily be accessed by it's index. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

The inhouse db managment tool is a bit slow and buggy. A shame they don't deliver one useful one with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Complete Open Source DBMS"
What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

Open Source, so no licenses to pay.

Fully compliant with SQL (including inheritance, for example) and ACID.

Good performance and stability on large databases.

Extensible.

With the extension PostGIS, it is one of the most powerful DBMS for GIS, among both commercial and open source alternatives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

Not as simple to master as other alternatives such as MySQL (of course, it has more features).

No native clustering (there are some extensions trying to solve this).

Some GUI tools are not reliable, but you can always go back to command line to do whatever you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful and necessary"
What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

PostgreSQL is easy to like even when sometimes it is not easy to use. Our team likes how the data from vmware is gathered well inside of PostgreSQL and able to used/connected to for other uses and dashboard creation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

Sometimes users of postgresql dislike how difficult it can be to access the data inside of the db without having to do some tricks to get to the data when it is locked down...but that can depend on what is creating the db. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, Lightweight, and feature packed"
What do you like best about PostgreSQL?

Postgres is great for what it is. A well packed version of SQL that does everything you need your database to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostgreSQL?

Not much. If using it for standard data storage, Postgres has everything that you'll need. It's easily connectable to your codebase and the syntax is sql just with extra functions which make life easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
