I really like that this is the most Powerful platform for building high performance data integrations solutions.
and data migration tool that comes with Microsoft SQL server database that used to extract, assemble and transform data.
This integration tool really helps in solving complex business problems and improvesproductivity and efficiency.
The implementation of this tool is super easy to use and on every day basis I am using it frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far I have not encountered any major drawbacks with this tool so I really do not feel any cons of this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It makes my work more easier and more convenient. It gives me relevant and legit details of the information that I really needed. I'm so happy using this product and thank you for making this great and one of a kind tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't have specific things that I don't like about it. But there are some things that need to improve. Hope it will go smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most helpful thing is that the integration has made connecting to data so much easier. Extracting, manipulating and loading the data so that it is ready for analysis is now super convenient. You can also track data lineage. Overall, saves a lot of time and manual work, which can be prone to error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only real downsideof this is the cost. We are currently in a trial period and we will need to prove the value of the purchase if we hope to keep this integration for the long term. Otherwise, it works great and fits our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of my personal best aspect of Microsoft SQL SIS to Alation is its robust and versatile ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) capabilities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A notable downside of Microsoft SQL is it's limited focus on Data cataloging and governance while It is powerful for ETL processes and a decent Workflow automation it lacks comprehensive discovery and metadata management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to obtain complete data traceability is one of the most valuable aspect of combining SSIS with Alation. Users can see the complete data flow from source to destination by combining both. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Two thinks which is complicated. One is difficulty of configuring and maintaining the integration, integrating Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services with Alation might be difficult.
The integration also be affected by upgrades or modifications made to either system, needs continuous administration and troubleshooting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The helpful aspect of this integration stems from the functionality that it provides if you have a Microsoft heavy organization. In my opinion that is the focal point that your org should focus on this integration. Ask yourself the question - do we currently use other Microsoft products that can leveraged between this server and Alation and how do we conduct the rest of our aligned business processes. I feel like the SQL server from Microsoft is not really weak or serve as something to dislike. The issue I do take with it is the other side of the coin as it relates to its strength. This integration is not for all businesses or even those that simply uses Alation. Make sure that you use other Microsoft products to get the most bang for your buck - figuratively and literally. The initial setup ran smoothly, without surprises. The relationship between cost-benefit could be a decisive factor, particularly if support hours are included, but you need to be 100% sure that the features will cover your needs. The lineage data visualization is remarkable but with some limitations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Alation captured basic data flow but it lacked crucial details about transformations happening within the SSIS packages. Without a way for managing SSIS packages directly from Alation, we needed to switch between platforms very often, a big hole for efficiency. We had to do manual digging whenever we needed to analyze and understand very specific data manipulations but under other circumstances, it could be enough useful. Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a Low code Enterprise level tool with ease of usage and integration. It has graphical Integration Services to convert any type of data. Altation is data analysis too and with these tools the frequency of usage of SSIS is very high and accurate. With Being Low code the implementation is very easy and the support provided is phenomenol. The pacakage is limited thee are few additional features which can be implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The no of functions it supports is tremndous, have used other tools as well like trino and all but this one is quite OP. Have built warehouse on it and it's easier than spark and all. Also Microsoft customer support is presented all the time so if u got stuck just to raise a ticket and you'll be contacted in an hour or so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The issue is cost as it's quite expensive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It shows the lineage between Table to File, File to Table and Table to Table of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services jobs in Alation.
SSIS provides a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface for designing ETL processes.
Microsoft offers comprehensive support and extensive documentation for SSIS.
SSIS is frequently used for daily ETL operations due to its powerful data transformation capabilities.
Ease of Implementation: SSIS implements seamlessly with SQL Server, simplifying deployment within Microsoft environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SSIS excels in robust ETL capabilities and seamless integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, unlike Alation, which focuses on data cataloging and metadata management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
