What do you like best about Kong Gateway?

The best thing that I like is the gateway API, easy and multiple options allow you to configure and be up and running in no time. I can only compare to ISTIO that I've used previously where the complex configuration made it a bit more time-consuming to set up initially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kong Gateway?

Plugin customization with Lua adds the need to lear a new programming language. Of course you can develop plugins with Go or JS, but the performance is not the same. I also think there could be more community involvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kong Gateway?

Kong Being an open source gateway helped to exploit the usefulness of APIs to the maximum with the support of its plugins. Applying it to pre-existing systems was very smooth and the plugins helped a lot to enhance its functions. Deployability of the same is very flexible where we could deploy it in multiple ways. What do you dislike about Kong Gateway?

The Hybrid mode in Kong was one of our concerns. There was a lack of data segregation in the CP and DP model so as each DP has proxies and routes that are dedicated to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Kong Gateway?

I like the ability to configure services, routes, and plugins through Kong Manager. I also like how developers can use the Dev Portal to create and manage API credentials. I was most impressed with the feature of developing custom plugins using Kong PDK and Lua. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kong Gateway?

I wouldn't say I liked that it was troublesome to create unit tests for the custom plugins. When we started using Kong Gateway, it was also not simple to have automated integration tests. It's not immediately clear how to retrieve graphic results from the Kong Vitals feature for requests that occurred more than 12 hours ago (I don't know if it is possible, we're using Kong 2.1.3.1).

The migration process from Kong version 0.35 to 2.1.3.1 was unexpectedly complicated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Kong support high-availability cluster and range of plugins to address cross cutting concern

Security of Kong is one of the best

It also provides services like rate limiting throttling, transformation, analytics and monitoring

Kong dose not have any password policy

Kong doesn't provide any mechanism to verify e-mail address

No concept of multi factor authentication
