I don't like Apache server very much, in fact, I stopped using it, but it must be said that it is the best cross-platform web server (and related applications) currently able to run smoothly on Windows as an alternative to IIS. Fast, with light loads, but often subject to indefinite crashes on slightly more resource-intensive applications, a good alternative to paid web servers for low-mid level applications and debugging. Indefinite crashes under stress compared to other web proxies/web application servers, no reporting or dashboard outside of textual access logs, a correct and costly configuration is necessary to handle larger loads without problems, and I also find it costly and unnecessary to continuously download, install, maintain, and update every single method used to make each part of the web app work well. Apache works on most of the operating systems, from windows to linux based ones.
This is great because you can export a configuration to another machine, even if operative system is a different one.
Also, it has a great list of add-on modules to support several kinds of extensions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Basic configuration has to be made the old way, editing http.conf file.
Sometime you can lost into the parameters.
Some competitors provide configuration via UI that can be very helpful with basical/simple configurations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Apache left a terrible impression on me because during my implementation at the company, which was quite simple as it only required an index.php with a guestbook for visitors, it experienced about 100 crashes in less than 100 hours of work due to both configuration errors and repository errors. However, the fixing was easy and quick as well as well-documented officially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no testing functionality capable of testing from the command line or GUI the configuration for any errors or misconfigurations that could lead to failure to start or sudden crashes, furthermore, there is no useful documentation for managing the resources to allocate to the PM. Apache Server nowadays is de-facto standard for web servers in Linux. Apache allows you to easily deploy a LAMP stack (Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP) in your premises or in the cloud. Available at most of the vendors, it's easily installable, configurable yet powerful and secure web server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Maybe the only bad thing about Apache as it's being over-popular and it's not giving a way to other web servers to appear. Also, they maybe should get rid of some general error notification messages that appear every time after normal installation of Apache. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its flexibility to be used in any operating system and its compatibility with other applications are two of the things I like most about this product, there are really many advantages it has, but without a doubt, the cross-platform feature is what attracts everyone the most to use it. Ahh and of course, it is an open-source server, the best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Many times the configuration is quite complex so that the system can function correctly, adding that its administration is not as good as other similar services and also that I think it should be able to integrate with more applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the amount of options and configuration for my server from a Linux distribution, with Ubuntu I install and configure quickly with all the packages for web service.
Apache Server has a lot of security for data transfer, encrypted and stable with SSL and TLS, I transfer files from anywhere.
It has a lot of documentation online.
Apache Server works with the minimum resources of a PC, I configure and execute what is necessary for my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Once I learn all the functions of Apache Server I configure what is necessary, but I would like a graphical interface and separate installation from the official website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like Apache Server because it is very stable, free and works on Windows and Linux systems, I use PC and I configure my server with this system from a light Linux distribution to get the most out of my PC.
The installation and configuration in Ubuntu Server is very simple, with a few simple codes from the terminal I have already configured and running Apache Server, to test the operation is to modify a blog of notes and voila, I already have my website.
Apache Server is compatible with all PHP and Python network and language packages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like a version with graphical interface to configure faster and easier, for less advanced users on PC server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like Apache Server mainly because it is free, open source and works on Windows and Linux.
The installation of Apache Server, MySQL and phpMyAdmin on Linux is made easy from the Linux terminal, test if it works we place our IP address in the browser, the required resources are very low and the installation from the terminal is done fast and installs everything necessary to start working as a web server, therefore it uses few PC resources and has a TLS and SSL security. It has a lot of security and stability in the databases and data transmission with TLS and SSL, a very robust and powerful web server, it is also ideal cross-platform for Windows users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Particularly Apache Server has no errors of any kind, I would like it to have a graphical interface for faster and simpler configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is easy to install it on your own machine and use it to learn and test many applications. It works It shines because of a large ecosystem of modules and a thriving community Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Apache has so many options that to configure everything is very complicated, and sometimes you need to spend much ours to get it good configured It's starting to show its age and isn't as performant as some of the more recent contenders I also dislike the configuration file syntax in comparison to nginx.
